The actors would work 24/7 to keep their new movie in the limelight. They were part of every crowd and every prime time TV show to promote their movies in full force. The planned and some surprise visits to India’s colleges all over just to keep reminding that their new movie is coming into the nearest theatres to you and you must go and watch with your friends and family. Now these selfies clicked with these stars is only a memory of that old normal.
In this new normal, the promotional activities of the movies won’t see big crowds at malls . Varun Gupta , the founder of MAX advertising said, ‘Advertising will change majorly and we’ll not see these massive occasions and press meets. The previous few movies that I labored on — Avenue Dancer 3D, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019) — we had plenty of on-ground actions. Now nothing of that kind will probably be doable. I’m now engaged on Laxmmi Bomb which is releasing digitally.’
Siddharth Kadam, the head of promoting at Dharma Productions said,’A few tasks have been introduced for Diwali and Christmas, we don’t know what will occur subsequently because the variety of instances are going up. However sure, large-scale promotional actions are not doable. Well being and security are priorities.’
Many advertising companies feel that going digital is the best way ahead. The digital has the power to grab the attention. It’s just that we need to find new ways to attract the audiences. Also many feel that the actors too will be restricted to move out and they certainly can’t go out to advertise in different cities.
