Vijay ( nicknamed Ilayathalapathy ) is an Indian film actor who has appeared in more than 50films in tamil. The son of film director and producer S.A.Chandrasekhar and playback singer Shoba Chandrasekhar, Vijay started his career as a child actor in the film Vetri (1984) and later made his debut as a lead actor in the 1992 film Naalaya Theerpu. His family drama Poove Unakaga in 1996 was the turning point in his career and later his success streak continued with many rom-coms and family dramas. Vijay’s Ghilli in 2004 was a blockbuster and took the actor to a whole new level of stardom from where he started doing more number of commercial films. Movies likes Pokkiri, Thuppakki, Kaththi turned blockbusters and made Vijay an undisputed king of BoxOffice and one of the top actors in tamil film industry. His latest release Theri in 2016 is also a blockbuster. Vijay has earned accolades, including Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and many other. Besides being a top star, Vijay is also known for his philanthropical activities.
