Shaurya(Rajkumar Rao) takes an unexpected journey into his new flat which is under construction and faces some legal challenges as well. He accidentally gets locked into his new flat which he bought to live with his girlfriend when they will marry in a day or two.He is stuck without food, water and electricity and panic prevails. None has any idea about this new flat and his phone battery too dies and this follows a claustrophobia and imprisonment into his own flat. He starves for an entire week only to end up eating cockroaches, pigeons and talking with rats to find a company. The entire film does check your patience. But, it will make you juggling with the ways Shaurya can come out and stop his girlfriend’s marriage from getting. But to everyone’s relief , he does get out of the building with a series of jumps and walks but only to find that his girlfriend has married off someone as he was too late and he realises that his absence didn’t bother his friends.
Trapped is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and co-produced with Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena. Director Motwane got the idea to make a film via an email from the writer Amit Joshi. He liked the idea and asked for the full script from him. The film was shot in 20 days in an apartment in Prabhadevi, Mumbai.
Trapped was premiered at the Mumbai Film Festival and received a standing ovation. After its release in theaters on 17 march, the film received positive reviews from the critics for the film and Rao’s acting. It even earned a otola of 28.5 million at the box-office. The film got several awards for Critics Award for Best Actor for Rao, Best Sound Design for Anish John and Best Editing award for Nitin Baid at the filmfare awards.
