This stellar film directed by the Kundan Shah-directorial seemed to have everything going for it. With the stellar cast of Om Puri, Nasserudin Shah and Neena Gupta, Pankaj Kpaoor and Satish Kuashik , the best of NSD. It even had Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Sudhir Mishra on credit rolls.
The film is set in the 80s of a time when homophobia, racism, body shaming and other forms of discrimination were casually thrown around in the name of entertainment. It is a dark satire on the rampant corruption in Indian politics, bureaucracy, news media and business, and stars
Thus the film brings Vinod (Naseeruddin Shah) and Sudhir (Ravi Baswani), two quirky but sincere photographers who find themselves unwittingly entangled in a sinister corruption scandal.
The rivalry betwene Tarneja and Ahuja led the murder of one of them. Vinod and Sudhir run to Shobha for help but in the end the bad guys get away and they both are prisoned.
