Abhas Kumar Ganguly ,better known as Kishore Kumar was an incredible playback singer, actor ,music director, lyricist, writer, director, producer and screenwriter. He is regarded as one of the most popular singers in Indian film industry. He has composed from soft numbers to peppy tracks to romantic moods. Kumar sang in many different genres and gave some classics to the music industry.
He was a multilingual singer , singing in Bengali, Marathi, Assamese, Gujrati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam and Urdu. He has also sung private albums in Bengali languages . He has received eight Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer . He was also conferred with Lata Mangeshkar Award by the Madhya Pradesh government . The state govt of Madhya Pradesh also initiated award ,’ Kishore Kumar Award’ for his tremendous contributions to Hindi Cinema. His one of the unreleased last songs was sold for rs 1,560,000 at the Osian Cinefan Auction in New Delhi.
He sang Marne Ki Duayen (Ziddi,1948) as a teenager like his idol KL Saigal , then in 1950s, he became possibly the most youthful version of his voice in the song Jeevan ke Safar mai Raahi(Munimiji,1955) or Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke(Nau Do Gyarah,1950) or Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi si( Chalit Ka Naam Gaadi,1958)
He grew when he started singing for actors like Amitabh Bachchan , Rajesh Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha, Shahi Kpaoor, and Sunil Dutt in the 1970s. He died at the age of 58.
