Pink is a much needed movie on women’s consent written by Ritesh shah and directed by Anniruddha Roy Chawdhary. While Amitabh Bachachan plays an elderly lawyer and Piyush Mishra is the lawyer of the opposite party. The film was shown to Rajasthan Police to behave sensibly with women. It was also shown in Rashtrapati Bhawan and received National Film Award on other social issues.
Pink is a much awaited movie in bollywood that clearly talks about the women’s consent on developing sexual relationships. She can be a financially independent girl, living away from her family in an urban city , attending rock concerts, and making her own decisions. Until, many presume this acts as a bad character to a girl. Her no is not no , it’s just a mere expression to get more attention. But this movie has told all those eye-keepers on women that her No only means No and when she says so, you need to stop.
The film demands that sexual assault must be looked at sensitively. The victim blaming must be stopped. Mr. Bachchan delivers many moral goods in the second half of the film, taking about sexual assault, women rights and very important issue of consent which many Indian men has no idea about. The courtroom becomes an essential point to express his concerns. Though a woman could have played a much better role as a lawyer to defend the women’s rights and her concern rather than giving it to a man who belongs to young angry man cinema.
