Post the National Award winning Thenmerkuparuvakatru and the yet to be released IdamPorulYeval, Vijaysethupathi joined hands with dir SeenuRamasamy for the third time for Dharmadurai. Ever since the announcement was made there had been a good expectation about this film.
Studio9Productions who gave a superhit Salim and who have distributed most of Vijaysethupathi’s films have bankrolled this film. Having Tamannah, AishwaryaRajesh, SrushtiDange, RadhikaSarathkumar and many on board, Dharmadurai can rightly be called a potential multistarrer. With good buzz and expectations, Dharmadurai saw the lights today.
Dharmadurai is an emotional drama that is conveyed in the most convincing manner. It is all about what happens in the life of Dharmadurai from his 20s to 30s. His college life, the lessons he learn over there, friendship, marriage, relations and more. A lot of social messages have been conveyed during this travel. And this has been done very naturally, with nativity and well etched characters.
Most importantly it is the characterization and the performances that has elevated this film to a whole new level. Vijaysethupathi is asusual at his best and has given a top notch performance in this film. He fits perfect in the character Dharmadurai. Tamannah has done a commendable role. AishwaryaRajesh is always a surprise and her performance stand ahead of all. SrushtiDange in an extended cameo is also good. This would be a cake walk for RadhikaSarathkumar and she has nailed it again. Many other supporting characters have also contributed their best to this film.
Technically, songs and BG score by YuvanShankarRaja is a major plus. Sukumar’s cinematography is excellent. Editing is good. Though the film is slow, it doesnt bore. Above all, it is SeenuRamasamy’s writing and execution that has made all these things possible. On the whole, Dharmadurai is a feel good emotional drama embedded with some great performances that works big time.
