Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan starrer crime thriller ‘Sarkar’ has completed the 15 years of its release on thursday. The film is directed by Ram Gopal Varma. He also shared a poster of the film on twitter to mark the 15-year anniversary of the film. He added a note in Hindi where he cherished the memories of the wonderful illustration and adaptation of the movie.
He wrote, “Is roopaantaran ka aabhooshan filmeekaran, chale varshon, rahe aamaran (The beautiful filming of this adaption remains for years, remains immortal)”
Director Ram Gopal Varma also shared one scene of Abishekh Bachchan from the film and wrote,’“Hey JUNIOR SARKAAAR! it’s been 15 YEARS still can’t forget the look in ur eyes when u adjust his collar and flick an imaginary speck off Rashid’s shirt @juniorbachchan”
The movie also features Katrina Kaif, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Kay Kay Menon, Tanisha Mukherjee and Anupam Kher in many significant roles. The film was also premiered at the New York Asian Film Festival.The later two parts of the Sarkar Franchise were ‘Sarkar Raj’ (2008), and Sarkar 3(2017). The second part of the franchise was selected for several nominations at Star Screen Awards, Stardust Awards, Filmfare Awards, and IFFA Awards.
Sarkar received an overwhelming response at the box office and from the critics. Many felt that the film is indigenised like The Godfather and the director introduced the political angle very well. The three actors Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Kay Kay Menon were praised for their performances.
